The shrewsfields new electric home appliance, called the shrews, will be sold in select markets in Australia by the end of next month.
The shrews will be a new brand for the home appliance industry, with the shrew in the name of Australian billionaire Richard Branson, who has given up his stake in the British firm to launch the shrew brand in Australia.
The company will be made by Australian-based Power-Vectronics and is expected to be priced at $3.5 million.
The product will come in four models, including a small electric version, which has a range of 300 metres and can be used as a portable fridge.
It also has a built-in power inverter for use in mobile homes.
A medium electric version with a range up to 3,500 metres and a range extension of up to 12,500 m will be available in selected markets.
The medium electric is expected cost about $3 million to build, and it will include a USB charger and two-way Bluetooth connectivity.
The electric version will be offered in the home market, but it will be delivered in smaller quantities, with a total of six units in the US market.
The small electric will have a range from 0.8 to 5.1 kilometres and is priced at about $2 million to buy.
A large electric model is priced between $3 and $5 million, and can also be built from the ground up in the market.
A smaller electric version of the shrew will be introduced in the next few months in select US markets.
It is expected that the shrew and the small electric models will be on sale in the first quarter of 2019.
