By Jennifer DePintoPublished May 13, 2017 12:56AMThe New York, NY Times did its own research on the electric-vehicle market.
It reported on the success of the Tesla Model 3 battery pack, which is now on sale in the U.S. and Europe.
The Times called the battery pack “a marvel of design” and said it could be used in more electric vehicles.
Tesla, which was founded in 2002, is a Tesla subsidiary.
The company is currently owned by the billionaire founder and CEO Elon Musk, who left Tesla in 2014 to start SpaceX.
The Tesla Model S is a sedan that was designed by Tesla and sold to customers worldwide in 2018.
The Model 3 is the company’s all-electric vehicle.
Tesla’s success in the electric vehicle market, including the Model 3, is due in part to the company taking a less aggressive stance in its efforts to develop electric vehicles, said Jefferies analyst Matthew McNamee.
“The Model 3 does a lot more than the Model S. The difference between the Model 1 and Model 3 was a lot of effort to get into the electric market, to get a better understanding of the market,” McNamees said.
“And the Model 2 and Model X did very little.”
Tesla’s decision to focus on EVs was a shift from Tesla’s previous approach of building more electric cars.
The automaker started building electric vehicles with a focus on battery packs in the mid-2000s.
The company has also built an array of vehicles that can be charged using its solar panels, which have been touted as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuel vehicles.
The electric vehicle company’s success has led to criticism from environmentalists.
The American Council on Science and Health, a nonprofit, called Tesla’s decision “a clear example of the government being the only real competitor” to electric vehicles and said that the company should not be allowed to sell them.
Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Its reputation is also tarnished by the firing of former Tesla engineer Kevin Plank last year for a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against the company.
The firing of Plank, who was one of the top engineers in the company, came after the Times reported that he had had sexual relationships with women in the past.
Plank resigned from Tesla after he was accused of making unwanted advances toward female employees, including a senior engineer who was promoted to vice president.
The Associated Press reported that the investigation found Plank had had sex with two women, one at a Tesla headquarters facility and another in New York.
Plink has denied the allegations.
He said in a statement that he has a “long history of bringing people together to solve problems” and that he is “deeply remorseful for the mistakes I made.”
Tesla spokeswoman Melissa Hickey said the company is not commenting on the matter.
The New York Post reported on Monday that the California Attorney General’s office is looking into whether Plank’s firing violated state law.
Tesla is expected to report quarterly earnings later this year.
