Electric appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines are a big part of the modern American home.
But the pros and cons of each type of appliance is subject to much debate.
A study by researchers at the University of British Columbia, University of Michigan and other universities found that the most economical appliances, like the ones listed here, can cost between $50 and $100 more per year than the more expensive appliances.
What’s more, they tend to be used less often, according to the study.
While the study doesn’t address the long-term impacts of these appliances, some experts are saying that a decrease in energy consumption and efficiency could reduce energy costs.
The good news is that the research found that a reduction in energy use could save households about $30 a year, according the researchers.

How much energy does my appliance use?
For each of these items, the researchers compared the energy usage with the average consumer’s consumption.
This is the amount of energy used to heat, cool and cool a typical home for an average day.

This weighted average energy data comes from the National Energy Board, which publishes the data.
This means the data does not take into account the amount or types of renewable energy sources.
What is the energy cost per watt?
The average consumer uses approximately 100 watts per hour, or about 30,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), for a typical appliance.
So, a 10-watt-hour refrigerator costs $40.
The average electrician might use 30,300 kWh, or 1,600 kilowatts.
The same appliance might use 2,000 kWh, 1,500 kWh or 2,400 kWh of electricity, depending on its usage.
The study found that an appliance with a 50 watt-hour heating system would use 1,800 kWh.
An electrician with a 25-wamp-hour system would need a total of 7,400 kilowats of electricity.
How does this compare to other energy-saving appliances?
The study looked at appliances with different types of energy efficiency.
This included models that include a more efficient inverter and a compressor, as well as appliances that use renewable energy.
In addition, it included appliances with “hybrid” energy efficiency and an energy-efficient cooling system.
